WHOLE WHEAT WAFFLES
These whole wheat waffles are a family favorite. They are quick to make, completely wholesome, and far better than ordering in whenever a sweet craving hits!
Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 15 mins | Yields: 4-5 medium- size waffles

INGREDIENTS
Whole wheat flour (atta): 1/2 cup
Refined flour (maida): 1/2 cup
Baking powder: 1 and 1/2 teaspoons
Baking soda: 1/4 teaspoon
Sugar: 2 to 3 tablespoons
Salt: A pinch
Milk: 3/4 cup (slightly warm)
Melted butter or oil: 2 tablespoons
Vanilla extract: 1/2 teaspoon
Egg: 1

INSTRUCTIONS
In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, maida, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk the warm milk, melted butter or oil, vanilla extract, and egg (if using).
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold just until combined—do not overmix, or the waffles will turn out dense.
Preheat your waffle maker and lightly brush the plates with butter or oil. Pour the batter onto the hot waffle plates and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
Top warm with fresh berries, sliced banana, maple syrup, or honey.
